Let's discuss things that won't ever happen.

Wed Nov 25, 2009, 9:28 AM
Yeah, I haven't updated, have I? It's hard being motivated to put things on DA when you're a writer. The artwork gets all the attention. That, and I still haven't written anything worth putting on here.

Also, I hate modern dentistry.

But enough of me milking my dismay. Journal!

I'm much more of an idea person than an action person. I have a thousand ideas in my head, but I can't seem to get myself to actually write them. That would require time and focus, neither of which I'm willing to devote.

No wonder I've never gotten anywhere in life.

Among the ideas I've got rattling in the dark corners of my brainspace:

- Persona: Americana, a Persona fanfic (set in the 3 & 4 timeline) that would attempt to take the Persona setup and see how it would play out in an American high school. I've got the characters lined up and most of the Social Links filled in, as well as some general idea how the plot would go, but I don't have an actual outline. (This happens a lot - for some reason, I always create all the characters first.)

- A fantasy world taken from creation to destruction, passing through the various fantasy tropes until it reaches modern-day standards and beyond. I have much of the history sketched out and most of its divine pantheon, as well as its rules of magic, but I'm not sure what stories to set there. (And yes, it has characters - Heroes and Villains. Since those are specific divine concepts on the world, they're capitalized.)

- The story of an immortal, capable of killing someone by drinking alcohol. I used to have an actual plot for this, but it involved a Sarah Jane ("What is it, Doctor?"); I shucked that character, because I want to see if you can do such a story without one, but now I don't know how to get the immortal involved in the plot...

- A story involving a Reanimator (NOT a necromancer - he gets pissy if you call him that), who raises corpses and rents them out for cheap labor. I have a few ideas, as well as the overarching history, but nothing concrete.

- One of several stories involving a Magician Surgeon (think Harry Dresden crosspollinated with Black Jack). I actually have some solid plots for these, but can't seem to get the details down in my head.

- My aliens, which I refuse to elaborate on here because DA's policies might cost me the rights to them. Which is sad, because they're what I've mostly worked on so far.

- A parody of post-apocalypse stories (like Fist of the North Star) starring a hero whose weapon is a giant spoon. I actually started this one during my brief attempt at college...

So... any thoughts, anyone out there? Any suggestions as to what I should focus on? Perhaps some ideas as to how to make any of these workable? I just gave brief sketches here because, frankly, I wasn't sure how much I should go into detail on.

If anyone asks for details, I'll give them in another journal post. (The aliens are excluded, because I'm paranoid, and they're not my exclusive domain anyway. I don't think my cowriters have DA accounts, either.)

I leave the floor to you.

tl;dr - I get a lot of writing ideas, but suck at the words.
